Today I decided to venture out and see what was happening on the Sacramento River. Knights landing boat launch area was the place I decided to go. I drove along the river for about three miles near Knights Landing and saw about twenty boats fishing. I did see one fisherman hooked up while on the drive. I decided to head back down river to the boat launch are and see if there was anyone I could talk to. As I pulled into the boat launch lot I saw a boat that had just pulled out. I spoke with the two fishermen asked if they had any luck. Big smiles were what I saw. They informed me that they had their limits if Striped Bass. They also informed me that they had caught an 18 lb. female that they released. I was able to see there fish and all were in the 20”- 26” range. They used a combination of bait (Sardines) and trolling. The big female was on bait.

met up with another boat and they reported that they had eight shakers that they released and one keeper. For those that may not know a shaker is an undersized Striper that is under 18”. I was able to see the fish that they kept and it was also in the 20” range. I asked what they were using and all they would say was lures.
It was somewhat of a busy fishing day I counted 13 trucks and
boat trailers in the lot.
Water looked good 3-4’ visibility with a green tint and was 57 degrees. I also asked if anyone had picked up any Shad and no was the answer for the day.
